The series of “Master of Book Illustrations” is designed to introduce readers to the work of the most famous world illustrator artists. The next issue is dedicated to the Russian artist, an organizationalist of the beginning of the 20th century, one of the founders of the “Russian style” in the book illustration Boris Vasilyevich Zvorykin (1872-1942). Love for Russian antiquity - stories, legends, folklore, decorative and applied art, icon painting, wooden architecture, calligraphy and book miniature - this is the basis of Zvorykin's work. In addition to colorful illustrations for the tales of A. S. Pushkin, one of the outstanding works of the artist was the book “Boris Godunov”, published in French in Paris in 1927. In it, Zvorykin demonstrated an impressive possession of ornamental art: openwork lace of vignet, frames and screensaver and thin weaves of patterns in the clothes of characters, floor carpets and tablecloths, from which it is impossible to look away.
