Borodino. Lermontov M.Yu.
Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814-1841), contemporaries called the Russian Goethe and compared with Byron. He stood in a row with the greatest geniuses during his lifetime, which turned out to be unusually bright and short. In all world literature, there was no other poet of such a great talent who died so early. The name of Lermontov is forever connected in the Russian consciousness with the name of Pushkin: by writing “on the death of the poet”, Lermontov gained truly popular fame. His fate mystically repeated the fate of the one whom he mourned in his poems - he was also awaiting unheard of fame and sudden death in the duel. In just a few years, Lermontov created real masterpieces: “A song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich...”, “Demon”, “Mtsyri”, “Hero of our time” and many poems. Among these masterpieces, a special place is occupied by Borodino - a story about one of the most glorious pages in the history of Russia. This story sounds with such a unique intonation and such pride in the fatherland that many generations of readers memorize these unforgettable lines that are remembered as if by themselves and forever remain in our grateful memory.
