Brest Fortress. Smirnov S.S.
The documentary of Sergei Sergeyevich Smirnov (1915-1976) on the heroic defenders of the Brest Fortress.
The Brest fortress was one of the first to take the blow of Nazi Germany in June 1941. For more than a month, her defenders fought, preferring to die, but not to surrender to the enemy. There were four more years of a terrible war ahead. The valor of the defenders of the fortress became only one of the episodes of that heroic struggle, the symbol of faith in the victory.
In 1954, S. Smirnov made the facts of those days well -known, found the surviving defenders of the fortress. Smirnov described his searches in the book, for which in 1965 he was awarded the Lenin Prize.
The publication was equipped with photographs provided by the Brest Hero Memorial complex.
