XI century. After the death of Yaroslav the Wise, the power in Rus' passes into the hands of his eldest sons: Izyaslav, Svyatoslav and Vsevolod. At first, the brothers try to act together, reflecting the raids of the steppes, but in this union the split ripe implicitly. Izyaslav, occupying the Kiev throne, is more listening not to the brothers, but to his cunning and powerful wife. Svyatoslav himself dreams of sitting on reigning in Kyiv, and when it turns out that Izyaslav is a bad commander, the dream takes on visible outlines. Now it all depends on which of the two brothers will support Vsevolod.
This is the plot of the novel created by the historian writer Viktor Porotnikov on the basis of ancient Russian chronicles.
