A powerful shrub 2.5-3.5 m of heights with wide spilling, drooping branches at the ends. Blooms from July to October. Purple flowers with a pink eye are collected at 30-50 cm long, odorous inflorescences. It attracts butterflies, one of the most striking Buddhals varieties.

It prefers fertile rather wet soils, sandy or loamy soils from neutral to very alkaline.
