The book is devoted to the history of the participation of Soviet citizens in numerous conflicts that took place in China in the first half of the twentieth century. Archival materials, memoirs of eyewitnesses and participants in those events allow the author seriously talking about the phenomena of “Soviet volunteering” and “international assistance to the fraternal people”, geopolitical claims of the Soviet Union to Southeast Asia.
The book gives a history of the struggle between the USSR and other great powers, claiming the role of decisive force in intra -Chinese conflicts, and the confrontation is studied not only in the field of armed clashes, but also in the diplomatic arena, between intelligence and propaganda structures.
