This publication is dedicated to an object that is relatively little illuminated in the educational and popular science literature-the Byzantine culture of the 4th-XV centuries. At the same time, the study of this subject is very relevant for our country, since the domestic culture after the baptism of Rus' developed primarily under the influence of the culture of Byzantium. The book shows the features of Byzantine philosophy and theology, legal and historical thought, hagiographic, artistic and other literature, scientific knowledge and system of education, architecture and art, as well as the life and morals of the population. Much attention is paid to the relations of Byzantine culture with cultures of other peoples, especially Russian.
