Calls. Zara T.

Trevor Zara deserves the title of modern classic of Maltese literature. His works are repeatedly awarded with national literary prizes, and Trevor Zara himself has state awards, including the Order for Service of the Republic, as a sign of the writer's contribution to children's and youth literature. His light style of writing, full of humor and figurative thinking, his drawings, which perfectly complement the texts, made Zara the most popular author of books for youth in Malta.

The story “Calls” was awarded the National Literary Prize in the category “Best Book. For teenagers ”2005. The plot is based on the “exploits” of the company of the Maltese teenagers, with which they decided to occupy themselves during long and monotonous summer holidays. Each of them tries to come up with the so -called “challenge”, and by lot is determined who is to take risks, fulfilling it. But this seemingly innocent game suddenly accepts an unforeseen turn and develops into something dangerous, sometimes on the verge of violation of the law, becoming a real test of the moral and moral qualities of their personalities. Throwing “challenges” to his fears and complexes, each of the teenagers has matured and received his own life lesson.
