Catichisis. Orthodox Catholic Eastern Church. Filaret Moscow, saint
The word "Catichisis" translated from Greek means "announcement, oral instruction." Since the apostolic times, this word, according to tradition, denotes the original doctrine of the Orthodox faith necessary for every Christian (see Luke 1, 4; Acts. 18, 25). The book of St. Filaret (Drozdov), Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomensky “The Pristane Orthodox Catichisis of the Orthodox Cafital Eastern Church” contains the main definitions of faith. Filaret (Drozdov) determined the essence of the Catichhysis: “The Orthodox Catichisis is an instruction in the Orthodox faith of the Christian, taught to every Christian for the benefiting of God and the salvation of the soul. And for the benefiting of God and to save the soul, it is necessary: the knowledge of the true God and the correct faith in Him; Life by faith and good deeds corresponding to it. ”
