Chaim Sutin. Monograph. 2nd edition, corrected and supplemented. German M.Yu.
This book is a fundamental monograph dedicated to Kham the SUSTIN (1893-1943). Even today, it takes first place among lifetime studies, serious catalogs, articles and publications about the artist’s work.
Olympic gift of Sutin is obvious, his painting has long and forever rose with the creations of Van Gogh, Munk, Picasso. More than a quarter of a century, he worked separately from his modern art, which, nevertheless, could not become what it became. Sutin did not enter into any “national history of art”, remaining an alien in France and maintaining a connection with Russian culture only in the hidden depths of his work, which more than time belonged to the XX century than the place where it was growing.
The artist developed the most important tendency of art of the 20th century, leading the beginning of Baudler: the aesthetization of everything, independent of the subject, rather, even contrary to him. The feeling of life as suffering, and painting - as a way to overcoming it will forever remain the dominant of his work. He died during the Second World War. Among the few who escorted Sutin at the Montparnassian cemetery was Picasso.
The book is addressed to art historians and a wide circle of art lovers of the 20th century.
