Chance. Fleet from the Holocaust. Shulevits U.
When Uri Shulevitsa was five years old, his family fled from Warsaw to the USSR, fleeing the Nazis. Like other refugees from Poland, they were exiled to the Soviet government to Lesonov in the Arkhangelsk region - the authorities saw the threat and potential spies in them, then they were allowed to leave for Kazakhstan, where Uri spent two and a half years as a child. After the war ended, the family moved home, but the Poles were hostile to the Jews. Family wanderings lay through the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, France, Israel and finally the United States. Uri Shulevitz wrote memories of his childhood. About exhausting hunger and support of strangers, about bombs and passion for drawing, about luck and perseverance, about children's games and wanderings in commodity cars. The fact that childhood still remains childhood. The fact that the love of parents is measured not by sweets and toys. And the calling and talent will break through the hardships.
