Chevengur is the unique novel by A.P. Platonov (1899-1951), combining the features of utopia and anti-utopia, magical realism and philosophical parables. The text also traces the ideas of religious sectarianism and Russian futurism.
The main character, Alexander Twinov, is growing up in a poor Russian province against the backdrop of a revolution and civil war.
Going to look for communism, the young man is in a town called Chevengur. Residents of the city are confident in the near attack of the communist paradise. They relax from many years of oppression, feed on long -standing food, carry out socialization of wives, brutally deal with bourgeois elements. Thanks to the revolution, the inhabitants of the city appeared dreams, and the most important profession was the human soul.
But the desired new life does not bring happiness, disappointment leads to the waves of violence, the order of life established in the Chevengur is gradually disintegrating...
