Childhood. In people. My universities
Autobiographical trilogy of Maxim Gorky “Childhood. In people. My universities ”, on which he worked for 10 years is one of the most significant works of Russian realistic literature of the twentieth century. The writer himself called it “the truth that needs to be known to the root, so that with the root it is to tear it out of memory, from the soul of a person, from our whole life, hard and shameful.” Provincial Russia literally comes to the reader of the trilogy at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the twentieth century, with its merchant courtyards and working suburbs, Volga ports, a series of colorful characters and an endless depth of understanding of the soul of the Russian people, always balancing on the verge of beautiful and ugly, between a crime and holiness.
