Children of the Zinger family. Sinclair K.
Isaac Bashevis Zinger is a recognized classic of Jewish and world literature, one of the most striking representatives of modernist prose in the Yiddish. His elder brother Isroel-ieshua Zinger, although it is somewhat less known to the wide reader, is not inferior to Bashevis as a novelist. Of course, it was the personality and work of Isroela-Jeshua that inspired his younger brother to become a writer. The third author from the Zinger family is Esther Kreitman, the sister of Yeshua and Bashevis. She is known less than her brothers; Esther's works are translated into several languages, but the Russian reader is still not familiar with them. The book of Clive Sinclair is a detailed study of the life and work of the Zinger brothers and sisters. Sinclair compares their novels and memoirs - both in terms of structure and stylistics, and in terms of copyright views and aspirations expressed in a particular work. Based on the memoirs of all three authors, Sinclair recreates the atmosphere that prevailed in the Zinger family, and reflects on how, thanks to - and at the same time, contrary to this atmosphere, they were formed as writers.
