This Textbook is intended for students and students of linguistic universities students under the program “Linguist translator”, within the framework of which students undergo “Legal Translation” discipline. This manual may also be useful for people who speak Chinese and want to acquire practical skills of written legal translation. The textbook consists of three parts and three applications.

The first part is an introductory lesson and is devoted to the issues and features of the theory of legal translation.

The second part consists of ten lessons that reveal the features of the legal case in the People’s Republic of China. In short, international law, constitutional law of the PRC, criminal law, labor law, financial law of the PRC, intellectual property law, environmental law of the PRC, civil law, business law of the PRC, and family law of the PRC are described.

The third part is a training unit consisting of ten lessons. From the first to the ninth lessons include practical tasks, which consider those language phenomena and translation problems that were identified when comparing the same type of documents in Chinese and Russian. The tenth lesson of the manual is a workshop on the translation of legal texts (external documents, diplomatic correspondence).
