Christ or law? Apostle Pavel through the eyes of New Testament Science
The science of the New Testament is a formed in con. XIX - beginning. XX century. Scientific discipline that studies the history of Christian creed by analyzing the texts of the New Testament as the most valuable and important historical source. One of the most difficult and still not solved problems of New Testament science is the reconstruction and identification of the origins of theological ideas of the Apostle Paul, who played an important role in the process of separation of the original Christian movement from the Jewish soil and its formation as an independent religion. These studies are not only of historical significance, they are closely related to the modern theological problem of Christianity and the problem of Jewish-Christian relations.
The book includes the fundamental works of A. Schweitzer “Mystic of the Apostle Paul” (1930) and E. P. Sanders “Pavel, the Law and the Jewish People” (1983), which largely determined the development of scientific Paulinism in the last century. Due to the differences in the religious positions and scientific interests of Schweitzer and Sanders, their work mutually complement each other and together gives a good idea of the state of this section of New Testament science.
