The book describes in detail the methods used to confirm the diagnosis of “chronic obstructive lung disease” (COPD), the principles of classifying the disease and determining its phenotype.

, from the standpoint of international and domestic recommendations, approaches to the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of hobble were analyzed. The features of the conduct of patients with COPD during the period of the pandemia of a new coronavirus infection (Covid-19), as well as the treatment of the latter in the case of a background respiratory disease, are formulated. Information on the main results of perennial studies conducted by the authors in the field of modeling the development of COPD, studying the role of the regional nervous system of the lungs in the pathogenesis of the disease, clarifying the mechanisms of action of prescribed drugs. Several sections are devoted to the identification and correction of impaired pulmonary microcirculation - both in the experiment and in patients with various severity of the course of the disease. The clinical and functional predictors of the progression of chronic respiratory failure, complicating the late stages of COPD, indications for the appointment and the possibilities of respiratory therapy in such patients (prolonged oxygen therapy at home, non-invasive ventilation of the lungs) are considered.
