“Chronicle of doubts” is the novel of the modern Serbian writer Vladislav Bayats about growing up, ripening and decline, about the errors of fathers and misunderstanding of sons. Illusions, according to the Serbian poet Branko Milkovich, "sing best." It is their voice that becomes in the novel the voice of the departed era, which disappeared.
“Chronicle of doubt” partly resembles the “yesterday's world” by Stefan Zweig, but Bayats does not nostalgic for the former, but, on the contrary, deliberately leaves sentiment. The language helps him in this: moving away from his own self, speaking of him in the third person, the writer seeks to keep himself first of all.
