Chronicle of the Optina Desert Skit: in 2 volumes, Leonid (Tolmachev), bishop

, on the 200th anniversary of the founding of the John-Predechasky monastery, under the Optina Desert, his chronicle is published, which is one of the sources covering the monastic life in it, visiting this famous monastery by famous hierarchs, rectors and inhabitants of monasteries, representatives of the White clergy, writers and public figures. On its pages in the chronicle of past events, the Optina tradition, a special monastic culture is traced and felt. The chronicle is a unique literary work, a monument to the era of the 19th- early 20th centuries, capturing not only the spirit of Optina monasticism, but also the spirit of old age.

The first volume of the publication includes two parts of the annals: for 1820-1861 and 1865-1882 , where the foundation of the monastery at the Optina desert, the life of its inhabitants at the elders Leo, Macarius and Ambrose.

the second volume of the publication includes the third part of the annals for 1900-1918, telling about the life of the inhabitants of the monastery under the elders Joseph, Barsonofia and Nectaria, as well as about revolutionary events in Russia. This volume contains a nominal index of personalities mentioned in the annals.
