Civilization and great historical rivers. Mechnikov L.I.
Lev Ilyich Mechnikov was a unique personality of Russian history. The versatile education and breadth of the horizons (he was a geographer, historian, ethnographer, sociologist, artist, writer) allowed him to synthesize many humanitarian and natural science data and put forward the concept of the emergence and development of civilizations on our planet. He identified three consistent eras of the historical development of mankind - forced unions (river), subordinated (Mediterranean) and free unions (oceanic), but managed to describe in detail only the first of them, into which civilization originated on the banks of the great rivers (Nila, Tigra and Euphrates, Indus and Ganges, Juanhe)
The real edition includes a detailed outline of the life and work of Mechnikov, in which his drawings are reproduced for the book "Japanese Empire" and the title sheets of all publications "Civilizations...".
