Charles Dickens is one of the most famous English writers. His novels “The Adventures of Oliver Twist”, “The Life of David Copperfield”, “Antiquities Stop” and many others are masterpieces of world literature. However, it was the “cold house” by many writers and critics that was called the most exciting work of the master.

In the center of the action of this novel - the story of the life of the young orphan Esther Summerson. Once in the care of the random benefactor of Mr. Jarndis, she at the end of the guesthouse falls into his old estate, known as the cold house, which is connected by almost the most famous case of the Jarnser’s Supreme Chancellor Court of Jarndis. Little by a little life of her new home and gaining new acquaintances, the girl by the will of circumstances is involved in the complex interweaving of human destinies, personal feelings, criminal intrigues and foreign family secrets - and one of these secrets, as it turns out, is directly related to Esther itself...

In this edition, for the first time in Russia, the text of the novel is accompanied by two sets of illustrations of wonderful English artists of the 19th century Frederick Barnard and HEBLOTE KNITA BRUNA.
