The name of Vladimir Ivanovich Dal (1801-1872) is known thanks to the “explanatory dictionary of the living Great Russian language”, which became the main brainchild of the author. However, Dahl was not only a philologist, a lexicographer and a collector of folklore, but also a talented writer, whose works at one time were appreciated by A.S. Pushkin.
