In the 1980s, he, along with his friends, founded the literary project “Storage camera” in Leningrad, which in different forms lasted until 2015 and was an important part of the poetic landscape of the last decades. Yuryev did a lot to return to our cultural consciousness of the forgotten names of Russian literature of the 20th century and attracting attention to the work of talented authors of new generations.
Since 1991, Yuryev lived in Germany, wrote in German. During his lifetime, he released 16 books in Russian and 13 in German (poems, prose, essays, plays). His works are translated into many languages. He became the winner of the Hilda Domin Prize (2010); Prizes of the magazine "Zvezda" (2012), prize of the magazine "New World" (2013), prize "Difference" (2014); poetic award Anthologia magazine "New World" (2016); Russian Prize (2017).
