Consuelo. Sand J.
Georges Sand (the real name of Aurora Dupin, in the marriage of Baroness Dudevan) is a legendary French writer, whose work has become one of the most significant phenomena of European literature of the 19th century. The desire for independence, a free lifestyle, the assertion of a woman’s right to choose a lover and neglect of marriage bonds, a male name as a pseudonym and a male costume - all this did the writer of the forerunner of feminism of the 20th century. “Consuelo” is one of the best novels Georges Sand, written at the time of creative maturity and, like many works of the writer, who caused the violent disputes and polar assessments of contemporaries. The story is based on the motives of the tragic clash of the artist and society, a difficult choice between a career, success and a quiet family lactae. The prototype of the main character of the novel was the famous Spanish-French opera singer Polina Viardot, former Museum of I. S. Turgenev.
