Contact dermatitis have great polymorphism in their clinical manifestations, an allergic component can be also present and absent. This leads to possible difficulties in making a diagnosis. Allergic dermatitis is a disease of the skin that occurs with direct contact with the skin of substances that can provoke an allergic reaction of a slow type. Contact with an allergen can last many years before an allergic reaction develops. The book pays special attention to the role of atopia with simple contact dermatitis: in patients with atopia, it is often found, due to various defects in the epidermal barrier.
