In the summer of 1920, Vyacheslav Ivanov, exhausted by the hungry years and illness of his wife, receives a ticket to the "health resort for overwork of mental labor workers." Absolutely by accident, he is populated into the room for an dear friend - Mikhail Gershenzon, the translator (jointly transferred Petrarch), literary critic and thinker. And so a new genre arose - correspondence between two neighbors in the room, which reflect on revolution, symbolism, philosophy, about the past and future. The collection includes the memoirs of Khodasevich, Kuzmin, White and others about Gershenzon and Ivanovo, their friendship, the first edition and the summer of 1920.
