Cossack troops in the First World War. Volkov S.V.
The collection includes the memoirs of officers of the Cossack troops who took part in the battles of the First World War at the European and Caucasian theaters of military operations. The materials are grouped according to the authors - to the Donskoy, Kuban, Ural, Orenburg and Trans -Baikal Cossack troops including cavalry, artillery and the Plastun units. The final section constitutes the memories of the service of Russian officers in the Caucasian horse -drawn native division. These memories saw the light in emigrant periodicals in Europe and the USA in the 1930-1970s. Many articles are published in Russia for the first time. The texts are saturated with live details of combat battles, front -line life and the life of the local population in the regions of battles, including the non -Muslim peoples of the Transcaucasia (Aisorov and Armenians), who suffered from the persecution of the Turkish army. Portraits of many distinguished Cossack heroes and representatives of the national regiments of the native division, who were up to the end of faithful military oath and Russian statehood, were very vividly discharged.
