The book of the outstanding Soviet and Russian political and statesman, economist and orientalist-Arabist E. M. Primakov is devoted to the colonial issue and the national liberation movement in Arabia. So the author calls a group of countries located on the Arabian Peninsula. From these countries in the first half of the 1950s (the time of writing the book) there are only two-Saudi Arabia and Yemen-were politically independent states, and the rest were British possessions and protectors. The book considers the growth of the national self-awareness of the peoples of Arabia, the rise in the struggle for independence and against the colonial policy of the imperialist powers, prepared by significant socio-economic shifts of the first half of the 20th century.
