Crime and Punishment
Crime and punishment (1866) is one of the most significant works in the history of world literature. This is a deep philosopher novel, and a subtle psychological drama, and an exciting detective, and a magnificent picture of a gloomy city, in the bowels of which the heroes sin and seek forgiveness, sacrifice themselves and renounce themselves for the sake of their neighbors and find calm in humility, repentance, and faith. The main character of the novel Rodion Raskolnikov decides to murder in order to prove to himself and the world that he is not a “trembling creature”, but “the right has”. The main subject of the writer’s study is the process of turning a respectable, smart and kind young man into a killer, as well as how schismatics who committed a crime can atone for his guilt. “Crime and Punishment” has repeatedly filmed, Tchaikovsky wrote music for the ballet, and recently, a rock opera was staged on one of the Moscow sites based on the novel.
