December 1971, a blizzard is expected in Chicago and the surroundings. Ras Hildebrandt, a priest of one of the suburban churches, is almost ready to put an end to his joyless marriage, but then it turns out that his wife, Marion, who has his own secrets, family life was also disgusting. Their eldest son, Clem, comes from the university home, making a decision that will soon shake Rassa. The only daughter, Becky, the Star of the School, suddenly plunges into the whirlpool of the counterculture, and the third of the children, Perry, who sold drugs for junior students, decides to become better. Each of the Hildebrandt is looking for freedom, and all other family members interfere with each other to find it.
