Oil is a valuable resource, the possession of which makes omnipotent. But why, then, the vast majority of exporting countries of “black gold” suffer from armed conflicts, poverty and corruption?

American journalist Peter Maas visited many countries where oil is extracted-including Iraq, Libya, Nigeria and Russia. He came to the conclusion: as unhappy families, each of which, as you know, is unhappy in its own way, each country mutilated by oil is ugly in its own way. Indeed, oil is called a drug. And this is a very dangerous drug, which produces an invariably pernicious effect on most states filling their treasury income from its sale.

In addition, for most of us oil is something abstract. It is understandable, because this substance loves to hide: throughout the long cycle, while it is mined, cleaned, transported and poured into a car gas tank, it appears to the eyes of a few units. Most of the time it is simply invisible, however, like gravity, it affects everything that we do.

when reading this book, you will get acquainted with the unsightly aspects of oil, feel its ominous smell and agree with the author: you must urgently look for it her alternative.
