“The Last Classic of Russian Literature” Ivan Bunin (1870 - 1953) considered the cycle of stories “Dark Alleys” to his best work. Fascinated by the mystery of female characters and actions, he created a whole gallery of immortal images. At the center of his story and experiences of completely different main heroines. There is the first reverent love, and a fleeting road hobby, treason, rape, and of course, thoughts about life and death, native nature and Russian idyll, lost somewhere on the expanse of the 20th century.
