John Golsourcy is the famous English prose writer, playwright and poet, Nobel Laureate in Literature (1932), author of the readers of the Forsytes beloved by many generations. “The best way to the reader’s heart is to represent life as you see it, with all sincerity and perfection that is capable of,” Golsourcy believed.

In many of his works, an autobiographical beginning is felt, the novel “The Dark Flower” (1913) also includes their number. His hero is Mark Lennan, at different stages life he experiences a new love, a new passion that captures him. “Spring”, “Summer”, “Autumn” - the names of the parts of the novel that correspond to youth, the time of growing up and maturity of Mark Lennan.

The famous dancer Margaret Morris recognized herself in one of the heroines of the novel: “Reading“ Autumn ”, I was amazed at what accuracy [Golsourcy] literally reproduced the whole fragments of our conversations.” How destructive the passion driven by the hero is for himself and for his loved ones and how moral assessments are applicable to the sense of love - the author provides the right to answer the readers.
