The book of Vladimir Lidsky contains novels and stories, the heroes of which are inextricably linked with Lida - a small Belarusian city, which has become a witness to the tragic events of history. For the author, this is a kind of Macondo-a semi-mythical generic nest where his distant ancestors once lived. Peering into the fate of his heroes, Lidsky unfolds before us a comprehensive historical canvas of the first half of the 20th century - terrible time of trouble, darkness and shocks, when “a cosmic rumble hung over the country.”

As the author says, "almost all my texts tell about the heroes that are dissolved in time, and against the backdrop of their stories, I try to show how time flows into itself and repeats itself." This is a living, fascinating narrative that seems to draw a reader into a funnel and does not allow to break away to the very end.
