Dasha Sevastopol. The first sister of mercy. Lukashevich K.V.

“Dasha Sevastopolskaya”-the story of the famous children's writer and teacher Claudia Lukashevich (1859-1931), telling about the young orphans living in the vicinity of Sevastopol. Since the beginning of the Crimean war (1853-1856), Dasha, moving compassion and love for the homeland, goes to the front to help the wounded fighters during the defense of Sevastopol and take care of them in the hospital. Her example not only inspired many women to become like Dasha to become nurses on the battlefields, but also laid the foundation for the formation of a new social institution for Russia - the societies of mercy sisters voluntarily and organized to assist the wounded soldiers.
