Anti-Azerbaijani prose writer, scriptwriter, historian, teacher, socio-political figure Yusif Samedoglu (1935-1998), who became the most striking event in Azerbaijani literature of the late XX century, is dedicated to the problem “Man and Power”, which the author reveals in binary opposition "Artist - ruler." In the prose of Samedoglu, the other world is one of the main elements of existence. The plot develops around the contrast between "sleep" and "rely". The actors of the novel are characters of not only a single reality, but also the same sleep.

The protagonist finds the manuscript of the Azerbaijani writer Sadi Efendi, repressed in the zo-e XX century. And for a long time, it is already rehabilitated, and creates a book about Sadi Efendi and unrighteous time. Based on the novel in 1990, the feature film of the same name was shot.

The novel is translated into many languages. The publication is addressed to all those interested in Azerbaijani literature of the 20th century
