“Dear Friend” (1885) is one of the most famous and often filmed by Maupassant’s novels. Time goes on, but readers are still interested in the image of a cynical adventurer and womanizer Georges Duru, the seducer of secular beauties, not disdaining anything to break out of poverty and obscurity into high society. Without special talents, except for the ability to seduce women, the hero manages, however, not without difficulty, to achieve everything that he wants.
