Under mysterious circumstances, the pedantic lady of advanced years dies. Her friend turns to the private detective Fedor Belman for help, wanting to find out under what circumstances she passed away. The detective is taken to work and goes to the village of Berezki. During the investigation, it turns out that the deceased turned to the funeral bureau and, perhaps, planned her death herself, but the investigation continues, and Belman understands that everything is not so simple.
