Giovanni Bokkaccio is one of the founders of European literature of the Renaissance. Decameron is the most significant work of Bokkaccio. This is a collection of a hundred piquant, witty and romantic short stories that sang life in all its sensual manifestations.

Young people, fleeing the plague raging in Florence, leave for a country estate. There for ten days they have fun, telling each other stories, each of which is a vivid fragment of a picture of the Italian life of the XIV century.
