Descartes. Discussions about the method for the right direction of the mind. Descartes Rene
The discussion of the method for the correct direction of the mind and finding the truth in the sciences is the most famous work of Rene Descartes, in which he formulates the rational method of scientific knowledge. In “Reasoning...” Descartes, without claiming absolute truth, invites the reader to get acquainted with the way of reasoning that allowed him to penetrate the essence of things and phenomena and come to reliable conclusions, and first formulates his famous statement: “I think, therefore, therefore, I think , I exist". The presented translation of “Reasoning about the method” first saw the light in 1873. Not always following the letter of the French original, the translator of M. M. Schiad sought to convey the spirit of the treatise with an elegant and understandable language, preserving the features of the style of the philosopher. The second part of the book is a brief presentation of the selected chapters of the treatise “Rules for the Guide of the Mind”, in which the methods of cognition are predestinated in the form of simple rules. It was very important for Descartes to make sure that his desire for cognition did not come down to an empty game of the mind.
