Edmond (1822-1896) and Jules (1830-1870) de Gonkur-French writers who compiled one of the most famous creative unions in the history of literature. They laid the foundations of naturalism and impressionism in French literature. Their name was assigned to the Academy and the most prestigious literary award of France, awarded annually, the Goncurov Prize.

Since 1851, the brothers led the "Diary" - the chronicle of their literary and public life. This is an interesting monument of the era. The publication presents excerpts from the “Diary”, we relied on both pre -revolutionary and Soviet, which became classic, and on modern translations into Russian of this living testimony of the life of famous artists.

The first volume of the “Diary” included records related to 1851-1864.

The second volume of the “Diary” included records dating back to 1865-1874.

The third volume of the "Diary" included records dating back to 1875-1896.
