In many ways, the autobiographical book “Dinka” (1959), on which more than one generation of schoolchildren has grown, tells of real friendship and fidelity. The Arsenyev family spends summer in the country near Samara. The wayward Dinka is the youngest of the three sisters, she is bored with all days to sit in one place, so she often secretly scores on the shore of the Volga. During one of these sorties, the girl gets acquainted with the orphan orus, who protects her from hooligans. So she has a faithful friend for joint adventures.
