The name of Anatoly Naumovich Rybakov (1911–1998), the classic of domestic literature, the author of the epoch -making novels “Children of Arbat” and “heavy sand”, is known throughout the world, his works are translated into dozens of languages. However, wide fame came to Rybakov long before the publication of his main novels. And adventure books have gained the greatest popularity, a special place among which is occupied by the novels about Misha Polyakov, primarily the “dagger” and “bronze bird”.
The heroes of these works belong to the generation of the brave, honest, straightforward “children of the revolution”, and on the steep turns of the plot lies the reflection of the civil war, NEP and the irreconcilable class struggle. Along with the books of Kassil and Gaidar, the adventure novels of Rybakov made up the Golden Fund of Soviet literature for youth, and were also repeatedly filmed with the participation of the author as a screenwriter.
