The story of Mikhail Bulgakov “Dog heart” is a work on the loss of civilized values in Soviet Russia, which combines acute satire and deep philosophy. An outstanding surgeon conceived an unprecedented experiment - an operation to transplant a homeless dog the ball of human pituitary gland and testes. The results of the operation surpassed all expectations - the ball gradually began to take the human appearance, but became rude and drunkard. Processing the influence of the communist activist Schwonder, who inspired him that he was a proletarian suffering from oppression by the bourgeoisie (in the person of Professor Preobrazhensky and his assistant Dr. Bormental), balls turning the life of a professor into a nightmare. The story was published in English by Antonina V. Bui.
