Dog years. Grass G.
“Dog years” is the final novel of the Danzig Trilogy Gunter Grassa. It comprehends the history of Germany in the first half and middle of the 20th century: the prewar time, the emergence and heyday of Nazism, the war, the post -war years and the period of the German "economic miracle".
The narrative in each of the parts of the novel is on behalf of one of the characters: Eddie Amzel-“Victims”, Harry Libenau-“Walter” and Walter Mother-“Criminal”, each of which perceives what is happening in his own way. Grotesque images, plots and allegories that permeate the narrative reflect the tragic paradoxical of the era. The satire becomes the only means for Grasse that can show the madness of society that has grown and then denied the horror of the Third Reich.
