A ghost ship arrives in the port of Genoa-a cruise airliner, on board which thousands of dead passengers float. The inhabitants of the mountain village of Chivit Di Banorajo literally die out of an outbreak of unknown illness in a day. The government is trying to hide these terrible facts at all costs. Only Don Cavelli - a professor of history from the Vatican - one of the few knows about the threat hanging over the world. The fact is that the spread of a deadly virus is engaged in a person who imagines himself to be the hand of God - formidable and not knowing mercy! The head of the Catholic Church instructs Cavelli to conduct an informal investigation and find a way to stop the madman.
