Double portrait. The science of parting. Kaverin V.
Veniamin Aleksandrovich Kaverin is a classic of Soviet literature, the author of the famous novel “Two Captains”, who withstood hundreds of reprints. This publication included two novels written in the late period of creativity. “Double Portrait” (1963–1964) is a bold “thaw” story about the tragic fate of biological science at the outcome of the Stalin era, when many scientists were repressed. The novel “The Science of Parting” (1983), according to the author, is based on genuine events of the Great Patriotic War. His hero, writer Vadim Nezlobin, like Kaverin himself, serves as a military correspondent in the Northern Fleet; The leitmotif of this work is parting with loved ones and illusions of pre -war life. On the day of his 80th anniversary, Veniamin Alexandrovich said: “I adhere to very simple rules in the life of very simple. Be honest, do not pretend, try to tell the truth and remain yourself in the most difficult circumstances. I tried to implement these principles in my works, in the characters of my heroes. These truths are simple, but to make them touch the hearts of modern readers is a difficult task. ”
