Down the dark river. Investigation of the inspector of Corravan. Odden K.
London, 1878. A mysterious crime was committed on the Thames - the body of a young girl was found among the rose petals in a boat floating downstream. The deceased is the daughter of a famous judge, and the investigation takes into her hands senior inspector Scotland-Yard Michael Corravan. The former boxer and a port worker from a seedy London East End, Corravan has a good street instinct and dexterity in searching for evidence, but he is very surprised when exactly a week later a dead woman is found in the boat, and then the third.
It gradually becomes clear that river killings can be associated with some terrible fact of injustice in the past, for which someone vowed to brutally take revenge. The corravan must get to the bottom of the truth before London plunges into a state of panic and before the killer requires another innocent sacrifice.
