Dutch grave. Kristensen M.
The action of this psychological thriller unfolds, as, indeed, the action of other books of the Norwegian writer Monica Kristensen, published in the Arctic Crime Romance series, on Spitsbergen. The author knows Spitsbergen firsthand: she first arrived at the archipelago in 1976, repeatedly stayed here for wintering and for some time served as director of the Kings Bay scientific station.
Therefore, she manages to so convincingly depict one of the most secluded and calm places on the planet, where nothing but weather conditions, it would seem, can not violate the measured life of people. However, here a mysterious, cruel, unpredictable murder can occur here.
And it all starts with the first landing on the shore of tourists who went on a cruise on the ship "White Bear" and visited the bird Cape, where Dutch and English whales lived more than 200 years ago. The only thing that remains of them is a cemetery with several rows of wooden coffins, which were once buried in permafrost, and now you can already see their covers. Raising one of them, tourists find a human head in a coffin.
And it clearly belonged not to Dutch whale.
