The book sheds light on the little -known pages of the history of the church life of the Vologda Territory in the post -revolutionary years. The main attention is focused on the personality of the peasant - the ascetic of Theodore Sokolov, a person of large spiritual talents, to whom believers turned to the prayer help during the period of mass closure of temples and repression against the clergy. Theodore Sokolov is one of the elders - laity who, with their instructions, helped to preserve and strengthen the Orthodox faith during the persecution of the Church. In 2002 and became a bibliographic rarity. In the proposed edition, it is reprinted with small editing and abbreviations. The second part of the book, compiled by the nun Daniel (Nikitina), is published for the first time. This part included the diary of the spiritual daughter of the elder Theodore A. A. Volkova and other materials adjacent to him on the subject. The publication is designed for a wide reader.
